These terms are written to be readable, not to trap you. They are provided for transparency and are not legal advice; we recommend having your own counsel review them for your jurisdiction.
Acceptance of these terms
By creating an account or using Locinote (the "Service"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service. If you use Locinote on behalf of an organization, you represent that you're authorized to accept these terms for it.
The service
Locinote is a note-taking application available on mobile (iOS, Android) and as an installable web app for desktop. We provide the Service on an ongoing basis and may add, change, or remove features over time. We aim for high availability but do not guarantee the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free.
Your account
You need an account to use Locinote. You're responsible for keeping your login secure and for activity under your account. You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age of digital consent in your country) to use the Service. Provide accurate information and keep it up to date.
Your content
You own your content. The notes, notebooks, attachments, and other material you create or import remain yours. We claim no ownership of it.
You grant us only the limited permission needed to operate the Service — to store, back up, sync, and display your content to you across your devices, and to process it as described in our Privacy Policy. We do not use your content to train AI (there is no AI in Locinote), and we do not sell it. You're responsible for your content and for having the rights to store it.
Acceptable use
You agree not to use Locinote to:
- Break the law or infringe others' rights (including intellectual property).
- Store or distribute malware, or attempt to breach or overload the Service.
- Abuse the email-to-note feature to send spam or unlawful content.
- Reverse-engineer or resell the Service except as permitted by law.
If you make a note public via a share link, you're responsible for what you choose to share.
Subscriptions & billing
Locinote offers a paid Pro plan and a one-time Lifetimepurchase:
- Pro: $1.99 per month.
- Lifetime: $34.99, paid once.
Purchases are made and billed through the Apple App Store or Google Play, subject to their terms. Monthly subscriptions auto-renew until canceled; you can manage or cancel renewal any time in your app store's subscription settings, and cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. Prices are shown in your local currency at purchase and may vary by region and over time. Refunds are handled by the app stores under their policies.
Free plan & limits
The free plan includes 100 notes and 100 MBof storage, with full import and export. If you exceed a free limit, you can upgrade to Pro or remove content to stay within it. We may adjust free-plan limits over time; if we reduce them materially, we'll give reasonable notice.
Export & leaving
Export is free on every plan and is never paywalled. You can export your notes as ENEX, Markdown, or HTML at any time from within the app. You're free to leave and take all of your data with you.
Third-party services
The Service relies on third parties (for example, cloud hosting, purchase processing, and the app stores) as described in our Privacy Policy. Your use of the app stores and of features like sign-in with Google or Apple is also subject to those providers' terms.
Termination
You may stop using Locinote and delete your account at any time (Settings → Delete account). We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms or that create risk or legal exposure. Where practical, we'll give notice. You can export your data before deleting your account; after deletion, your content is permanently removed as described in the Privacy Policy.
Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, to the maximum extent permitted by law. We don't warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free, or that it will meet your requirements. You are responsible for maintaining your own exports/backups of important data.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Locinote will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits or data. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us for the Service in the twelve months before the claim (or, if you're on the free plan, a nominal amount). Some jurisdictions don't allow certain limitations, so some of these may not apply to you.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the Service evolves. We'll update the "last updated" date above and, for material changes, provide a more prominent notice. Continuing to use the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws applicable at Locinote's principal place of business, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules, except where mandatory consumer-protection laws in your country of residence apply. We'll finalize the specific governing jurisdiction here before general availability.
